Keeping up with Paul and Virginia

|
Lisa Friesen graduated from JMU on May 7.

Paul and Virginia were workshop speakers at the sixth annual Thriving Churches conference in Sacramento, April 29 - May 1, sponsored by Bayside Church of Granite Bay, California. This conference is held to encourage those in ministry so they can better encourage those in their congregations. Virginia writes, "Paul and I consider it a great privilege to be workshop presenters each year. This year our workshop was entitled "Got Sex?" and we attempted to give a Biblical view of sexuality." You can read more about their time at Thrive on Virginia's blog.
Following that conference, Paul and Virginia spoke at a mini-marriage conference for a Bayside sister church (BOSS) on Sunday and Monday nights, then flew back east to keep counseling appointments. There were only a few short nights in their own bed before they took off again - this time on a personal trip, as they attended daughter Lisa's graduation from James Madison University with a masters degree in exercise physiology. It was a proud day, followed by various celebrations and capped with a visit to Virginia's parents on Mothers' Day. Back to New England for another day of counseling, and then off to Florida for some downtime with Doug and Julie Macrae at their Vero Beach condo. (Thanks for providing this for them, Doug and Julie!) While there, Macraes introduced them to geocaching - a great inter-generational activity for families that we highly recommend!
In other family news: Gabe and Kari Garcia are "growing" with the anticipation of their son's birth this August. Now that Lisa has graduated, she has accepted a job at James Madison University and will be the athletic trainer for the women's division 1 soccer team beginning August 1. Julie spent her two-week break between trimesters of physical therapy school in Uganda, visiting the Cure hospital she worked with last year for 7 months. Virginia writes, "We are so thankful for God's hand of blessing on our family."

We've recently added a few mp3 recordings of talks by Paul and Virginia to the H.I.M. website. Check them out here.

| Virginia wrote recently, "We are so thankful for God's faithfulness to take our insufficient efforts and make them into something life-changing." Isn't it wonderful that God has chosen to work through His people, giving each of us a role to play in His marvelous Kingdom work? Thanks to you for partnering with H.I.M. as we seek to serve Him.
